JOHN HALL and GULF STREAM NIGHT

The Players
Gulf Stream Night is the name of John Hall's new band, also a song on the new CD. Like the rollicking, unpredictable conditions sailing in the Gulf Stream, a set by this band can be calm and comforting one minute, then wild and tumultuous the next.
The rhythm section is anchored by Peter O'Brien on drums. Peter played with Orleans since 1989, and has also toured and recorded with Jonell Mosser, Edgar Winter, Roy Buchanan and Rory Block.
Engaged in percussive conversation with Peter is Joakim Lartey, whose collaborations with Futu Futu, Jack DeJohnette and Natalie Merchant are well known to Hudson Valley listeners. Joakim plays an assortment of drums, shakers, and noisemakers from different continents.
Bobby MacDougall, a Columbia county native who now resides in Poughkeepsie NY is a self-taught guitarist and bassist, who plays bass and sings with GSN.
Rounding out the quintet is guitarist and backup vocalist Melanie Hall. She played lead guitar for at least 30 bands across the country, including Boulder concert faves Raw Honey, the Memphis reggae band Caya and the Weldors, and Nashville star Ronnie Dove. Melanie is co-author of four tunes on the "Rock Me On The Water" CD.
When youhear John live with Gulf Stream Night, you may discover the songs from the CD turn into extended jams. You'll also get an earful of reggae and calypso versions of John's earlier tunes, and occasional covers. Bring your dancing shoes!
