John has been around the music world, from writing and directing music on Broadway to touring with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, from producing Bonnie Raitt's third album to writing the smash Orleans hit "Still The One." Details are on the bio page, but the focus for now is a record inspired by a sailing trip. From Kingston, NY, to Havana, Cuba, then north to Martha's Vineyard and Cuttyhunk, and finishing in Annapolis MD, John sailed and wrote, listened to the ocean and the wind, collecting these songs to share with you. All but three are written by John with collaborators including Steve Wariner, Tad Richards, Sharon Vaughn and Pamela Melanie Hall. The other songs are the title track, a Jackson Browne chestnut done reggae, Sam Broussard's "Channel Pilot," and a new Jules Shear song called "Every Place."
All songs but one have acoustic rhythm guitar, but the drums, bass and percussion carry them into a Caribbean zone at every opportunity. The live shows stretch these songs into percussive jam sessions. Click here to read about the band. |
